The truth is, I really know the value of crafting wood items with your own two hands. The quality is almost always superior, as you can use REAL wood and not treated crap. Not to mention, it’s hundreds – if not thousands of dollars cheaper to build your own furniture pieces! And, of course, there’s the pride element, as well.

I recently saw a chair set at a department store – two nice (but not that nice) wood chairs for a whopping 450 bucks! Are you kidding me? I knew I could make these very same chairs for under $100 in supplies and a few hours of labor… with the right plans!

The resource I finally found was actually online. It’s a one-time fee (it’s tiny… like 45 bucks or so) membership database of thousands upon thousands upon thousands of professional quality woodworking plans – that you don’t have to be a professional woodworker to understand!

I don’t know if I’ll be making a pool table, gazebo, or shed (all of which I now have plans for!) anytime in the very near future, but I’ve got plans to build some nice patio furniture, cabinets, tables, chairs, baby furniture… heck, I may even try to build myself a custom-made guitar!
